Mr. Joe Kabukoba, Consultant Gynaecologist and Director of One Stop Clinic, has won a national awards from NESTA and a SMART award. The NESTA award came after a competitive process of hundreds of entrants and grants were awarded for worthy projects. Mr. Joe Kabukoba won a grant to develop and patent his invention of a stitching device  that will be used in keyhole surgery. (In 2003, he won a SMART award to further develop the Loop & Clip device).

Here is the extract from The Times on Monday, May 22, 2000.

'In the field of medicine, Dr Josaphat Kabukoba, a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, was awarded £32,000 to develop and patent his design for a stitching device that could be used in keyhole surgery. Dr Kabukoba hopes that the successful development of the device will encourage more doctors to offer keyhole procedures.'
