Menopause is a time of major physiological and psychological change but need not be either depressing or disruptive. Before the actual onset of the menopause, an individual may go through a period of irregular bleeding, hot flushes, sweats and various mood changes. We provide hormone assessment, strategic advice and plans so that you can be best able to cope in the short and long term. Options available include Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), Non-Hormonal Options including Phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens are food extracts that have weak oestrogen like effects without the risks associated with oestrogens. Taken as food supplements they are a great option for a long term management strategy.

Osteoporosis Screening
Osteoporosis is a devastating consequence of menopause characterised by low bone mass and strength. It is known that 1 in 3 women will suffer clinical osteoporosis related problems. The figure for men is 1 in 12.
It is estimated that there are 60,000 hip fractures and around 80,000 back fractures in the UK. Sadly, death following hip fracture is about 30% in 12 months. Most patients surviving do not regain their independence.
Identifying who is at
risk of osteoporosis becomes an important issue, so that preventative
action can be taken. DXA and Bone Ultrasound are tools available
to identify at risk bones.
